Anticipating My August Residency at Juniata College
I recently visited Grove Farm, the 365-acre 18th century property at Juniata College’s Raystown Lake Field Station, and found it incredibly inspiring. This August, I’ll stay here to work on my project, “Echoes in History: Explore Roots Through Collage.” Grove Farm is steeped in history. The log cabin, where I’ll be staying, and the annual maple syrup harvest speak of generations of hard work and community. These elements are not just historical relics but vibrant threads that connect people to this land. The farm’s rich history and generational traditions have sparked numerous ideas for my artwork. The stories and traditions of Grove Farm are a wellspring of inspiration for my project. The Grove Farm quilt square I plan to make will definitely be influence by the essence of these legacies, honoring the hands that built the cabin and harvested the maple sap. As August approaches, I eagerly anticipate my residency. Immersing myself in such a historically rich environment will undoubtedly enrich “Echoes in History.”
