Viewing the familiar through the len of time...
This week’s communication has lead to an unusual treasure for me personally. Sam Miller, of the Newton-Wayne Historical Society, in his submission sent a dated picture of the stone house my husband James and I are currently restoring. Seeing the house in its former glory was both inspiring and humbling, offering us a glimpse into its rich past and guiding our restoration efforts to preserve its authenticity.
Participating in this project has allowed me to become a type of custodian of history, bridging the gap between the past and the future. I am grateful to the Newton-Wayne Historical Society for their invaluable contribution and for reminding us that we are part of something much larger than ourselves. The echoes of history are all around us, and it is our privilege to listen and learn from them.
