Installing Echoes of History Crazy Quilt Collage
This week, I had the incredible honor of installing Echoes in History at the Juniata College Museum of Art. This piece, created as part of my Grove Farm Residency, celebrates the unique stories, histories, and traditions of Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. Each quilt block collage reflects a distinct community, blending archival materials, historical imagery, and contributions from local organizations to weave together a rich tapestry of our shared heritage.
A key element of this series—the crazy quilt collage—brings together remnants from all the individual blocks, symbolizing the interconnectedness of these communities. I’m thrilled to share that this piece will remain part of the museum’s permanent collection, ensuring that the stories it represents will continue to inspire and connect future generations.
Thank you to everyone who supported this project, contributed materials, and shared their stories. It’s a privilege to see this work find its home in a place so deeply tied to the community it honors.
If you’d like to learn more about the creative process and the history behind this project, I invite you to a special presentation and demonstration on March 12th at 6 PM at Shuster Hall, located at Juniata College’s Field Station Facilities in Entriken, PA. I look forward to sharing insights into this work and hearing your thoughts on the stories it represents. Hope to see you there!
