Paper “Wearable” – Recreational Bathing Suit

Now complete, the paper bathing suit stands as a tribute to the rich recreational history of our region. Constructed from over 70 transferred photographs, the retro-style garment captures the joy and belonging found where people gather to rest, play, and connect—by rivers, lakes, and summer shores. The final piece weaves together personal visits and archival memories, creating a fragile yet resilient sculpture that speaks to the power of shared experience. As part of the Echoes of History exhibition, it reminds us that history is not only held in buildings or records but also in the moments we spend together—floating, laughing, and lingering in the places we return to summer after summer.
