The Right Glue & the Start of a Graduation Gown
As I begin work on the graduation gown for Echoes of History, I’m reminded that the right materials make all the difference—especially the glue. With paper garments, adhesive isn’t just about holding things together; it affects texture, flexibility, and even stitchability. After testing several options, I’ve finally found one that secures without warping and allows the surface to remain workable for hand-stitching.
This gown focuses on education—a theme that has sparked generous image donations from schools and educators throughout the county. But the heart of this piece comes from the Mount Union Class of 1965 yearbook. Its pages offer a beautiful glimpse into how student life, roles, and achievements were celebrated.
As the layers come together, this gown becomes more than just a symbol of graduation—it’s a reflection of how communities honor growth, milestones, and the pursuit of knowledge.
