Printing and Regional Grouping
On my second day at the Grove Farm residency, I’ve been fully immersed in printing images and organizing them by region: Juniata Valley, Woodcock Valley, Huntingdon Area, and Southern Huntingdon. The geography of Huntingdon County, with its steep, long mountains cutting diagonally across the landscape, naturally defines these regions. As I group the images, I’m struck by how each valley has its own unique influence, shaping the character and stories of the communities nestled within them.
As I print, I’m carefully considering the interplay of each community’s images, thinking about how they will come together in the larger work. It’s not just about preserving history but also about creating something aesthetically cohesive and visually engaging. The way these images interact on the page will reflect the interconnectedness of the communities themselves, each contributing to the rich tapestry of Huntingdon County’s history. This process is both challenging and exciting, as I begin to see the larger picture emerge, one piece at a time.
